1. Collaborations (Outreach invites)
What are collaborations?
Collaborations is AfterShip's automated outreach engine. You create an Outreach Invite that automatically sends collaboration invitations to your selected creators at scale. The system handles the entire process, from batching and rate-limiting to follow-up reminders, so you can focus on strategy rather than manual operations.
Each invite is a self-contained outreach campaign with its own target creator list, messaging configuration, and delivery schedule.
How to create an outreach invite?
Navigate to Affiliates > Creator Outreach > Collaborations and click Invite in the top-right corner. The setup follows a guided, step-by-step workflow.

Step 1: Set invitation basics
Configure the foundational settings for your outreach invitation:
Invitation name: The default name will be set to New bot - {YYYYMMDD}. You can customize this to reflect your campaign (e.g., "Beauty Creators Q2 Wave 1").
Outreach method (required): Choose how you want to contact creators:
- Target collaboration + direct message (
Recommended): Sends a formal target collaboration invitation via TikTok Shop and a personalized direct messages simultaneously. This dual-channel approach significantly improves reply rates, as creators see both a professional product offer and a personalization message. - Target collaboration only: Sends only the formal target collaboration invitation through TikTok Shop's affiliate system. This option is best for straightforward product promotion offers.
- Direct message only: Sends only a direct message to the creator's TikTok inbox. Best for relationship-building or when you want to start a conversation before making a formal product offer.
Step 2: Configure target collaboration (TC)
This step appears only if you selected "Target Collaboration + Message" or "Target Collaboration only" in Step 1.
- Configure the details of your collaboration offer using the same fields available when creating a collaboration in TikTok Shop Affiliate Center. This includes
- Selecting your products
- Setting the commission rate
- Deciding whether to offer free samples
- Defining the collaboration validity period
- Adding any special instructions
- The target collaboration invitation will be synced to TikTok Shop, so creators can accept it directly through their TikTok Affiliate Center.
Step 3: Configure direct message and follow-up
This step appears only if you have selected "Target Collaboration + Message" or "Message only" in Step 1.
- Initial direct message: Write the first message creators will receive in their TikTok inbox (required). The message length is set to up to 2,000 characters max. When using "TC + Message" mode, the direct message can include a Target Collaboration card so creators can view and accept the offer directly from the message.
- Merge tags: You can use merge tags to personalize messages at scale. For example,
{Creator name}is automatically replaced with each creator's display name, making every message feel personal even when sent to thousands at once.
- Follow-up messages (Optional): Set up to 2 automated follow-up messages for creators who haven't replied. For each follow-up, configure the message content and the delay time (1β7 days after the previous message, default time is 3 days). A creator will receive at most 3 messages in total (1 initial + 2 follow-ups).
The system automatically stops follow-ups for any creator who responds to an earlier message, so you never accidentally send unwanted messages to someone who has already engaged.

Step 4: Select creators
Choose which creators to target for this outreach campaign by selecting a pre-built Creator List.

Step 5: Set schedule and launch
Configure the delivery schedule and review your invitation settings before launching.
- Delivery schedule
- Set the days of the week for sending the outreach. The default days will be set to weekdays.
- Set the time window (hours) for sending the outreach. The default window will be set to 8 AMβ5 PM.
- Choose the appropriate timezone for sending the outreach. The default timezone will be set to New York
The system automatically distributes messages across your configured schedule, respecting the daily limit of 10,000 creators per store.
- Launch options
You can either Save the invite as draft (saves the draft with a "New" status for later launch) or Send invites to immediately begin the outreach based on your schedule.

Understanding outreach limits
AfterShip Affiliates displays your outreach quotas prominently at the top of the Collaborations page:
- AfterShip daily outreach limit: AfterShip supports sending to up to 10,000 creators per day per store. This counter shows how many you have used today.
- TikTok weekly outreach limit: TikTok imposes its own weekly quota based on your store's GMV over the past 30 days. This limit is set by TikTok, not AfterShip. Click "View limit on TikTok" to check your current quota directly on TikTok Shop.
When your store's TikTok quota is reached, active invites will temporarily pause sending in the background. Once the quota resets, sending resumes automatically β no manual action is required.
Managing your invites
- Invitation list view shows all invites in a table with key metrics (GMV, replies, videos, orders, etc.), with columns varying by invitation type. E.g. DM-only invites exclude sales-related columns.
- Invitation statuses track each invitation's lifecycle across six states (New, In Progress, Paused, Completed, Stopped, Failed), with available actions like Start, Stop, Edit, View, and Cancel depending on the current state.
- Invitation detail view lets you drill into individual creator outreach outcomes, including success/failure status and failure reasons, to help troubleshoot and plan next steps.

2. Emails

What is email outreach?
Email outreach lets you contact creators directly through their email addresses, which are available for 300,000+ creators in our database. Email is a complementary channel to TikTok DM. It is especially effective for creators who are less active on TikTok messaging or who prefer professional communication via email.
How to use email outreach
Navigate to Affiliates > Creator Outreach > Emails to create and manage email campaigns.
- Template editor: You can choose the the default template or build your outreach email using a drag-and-drop editor with customizable sections, including images, text, buttons, social links, and more. Use merge tags such as
{CREATOR_USER_NAME},{SENDER_NAME}, and{ORGANIZATION_NAME}to personalize each email at scale. - Send emails: Select creators from your Creator Lists or My Creators pool (only creators with email addresses can be targeted). Configure your subject line and preview text, then send.

3. Best practices
- Combine target collaboration + Direct message for maximum impact: The "Target Collaboration + Message" mode significantly outperforms single-channel outreach. Creators see a formal product offer alongside a personal message, which builds trust and drives higher reply rates.
- Use follow-up messages: Most creators will not respond to the first message. Setting up 1β2 automated follow-ups at 3-day intervals can dramatically improve your conversion rate without any additional manual effort.
- Leverage creator lists: Build targeted lists using Find Creators or Lookalike, then use those lists when creating Collaboration invites. This creates a streamlined workflow from discovery to outreach.
- Review failure reports: After each invitation completes, check the failure breakdown. Common issues such as "already linked with another shop" or "same product offer exists" can be resolved by adjusting your creator selection or product lineup for the next wave.
